News from Chiyumbeyumbe!
Last March 2 teams from Georgia - one lead by Tim Garrett; the other by Pastor Rick Standard visited the village of Chiyumbeyumbe for several days of relationship building, evangelism, prayer and a whole lot of fun with the children and the adults. During those visits, we were all invited to visit their garden. The sheer size and the vast variety of vegetables in that garden was very impressive. They had planted near a stream and had a foot peddle pump for irrigating the garden. This was a major source of income for that village. We later learned that during August (wintertime here) we had experienced a cold snap that dipped below freezing in some places...and the entire garden was lost - along with vital future income to help feed the village of Chiyumbeyumbe. By that time, the water level in the nearby creek had dropped too low to be useful in restarting the garden. The nearest Bore Hole (well) was too far to cary that much water by hand.
Not only was there a problem getting the garden restored, but the daily task of getting ANY water was an adventure - a hike several miles to the nearest source. They needed a Bore Hole nearer to them. Just last week the miracle happened. The government decided to drill 2 new Bore Holes on their land. The job was completed last Saturday. Edwin (the Chiyumbeyumbe Head Man) has moved closer to one of the new Bore Holes and has restarted his garden. So far, so good.
As for Me and My House...I thank all the teams who come here to do God's work. The people have so little and even less hope. But, they have faith that God will provide - which He does...sometimes in miraculous ways through people just like you and me. Your visits here are worthy and vital for the work that God is doing in the lives of these people.
God Bless You!
Come, Go With Us!
Here are a few of photos and a short video clip of Edwin thanking Tim and his team for all the work they have done for his village for the past 2 years.
I woke up one day and discovered God wanted me to quit what I was doing for me...and start doing something for Him.
