The cost of an education in Zambia is relatively high for the local parents. In high school, it costs around $300 - $800 per year. With the average wage (if one can find a job) around $4/day, it is sometimes impossible to afford to send their children to school. We are forming a fund to make money available for those individuals who have the greatest need and stand to gain the most from an education.
Students we support
Kelvin Liswani - Kelvin lives about 10 kilometers from us and loves to interact with our Bush Minisrty. At 21, you might think he is behind the curve - but, this is typical in a place where education is so desired, yet so difficult to achieve.
4 years ago Kelvin and his brother, WIllard, formed a group called "The Male Voices". In 2010 I recorded them performing around a dozen songs that they themselves composed and wrote. One of those songs is "Suffering Jesus". We have played that song many times to "teary eyed" friends in the USA (to see this song performed, go to our video page and scroll down to "Suffering Jesus"). As we take the Gospel into the Zambian bush, Kelvin is always ready to Come, Go With Us!. He is a natural when it comes to leading worship...and the Zambians respond to him so well. He is a tremendous inspiration!
We began assisting Kelvin in 2012 as he began Grade 10. He is now in grade 11 and is doing very well. It is our hope that we can continue to support his education until he graduates next year.
