George Kashongo - Ministry Partner
We have known George since 2008. We met him while serving at Global Samaritans Children's Home. George came to us in early 2014 as a full time worker. Since then, he has finished High School and is attending College in Livingstone in the field of Automotive Engineering. He is very instrumental in our ministry outreach as an interpreter, teacher and prayer warrior. He performs many logistical tasks when we go into the Bush - setting up camp; helping us to understand the cultural questions that come up; teaching children any time we have a need and most importantly, he interprets exactly the words we want to say and translates anything and everything that is said...to us and about us. He fits right in when we have visiting teams and becomes a vital team member while they are with us. We are very thankful to have him on our team!
Sometimes God puts like minded men together. Percy come to us with a great heart for teaching pastors. His "Life School" has been used to teach pastors in Zambia, Namibia. South Africa and Angola. As we begin to branch out into these and other nearby countries, Percy will be instrumental in partnering with our current discipleship and pastor training programs. Please welcome Percy as we have invited him to join with us on the board of Come Go With Us Zambia, Limited.
Houskeeper/Interpreter Bertha Libindo
Bertha started with us in 2009. She has faithfully served a vital role as our guesthouse housekeeper, interpreter, cook and joins with us when teams are here to help serve in any way she can. We rely on her honesty and her ability to help us merge our crazy American ways with the Zambian people.
Please welcome Cindy Clark. Cindy is from Mineral Springs Baptist Church in Vinton Virginia. She came here this past July as part of a mission team from her church. For the past several years, Cindy has felt the call to ministry and decided to come join us for 3 months following the return of her team and her retirement. Starting in Early September, Cindy will be joining us here in Livingstone as an intern serving along the teams who come and helping us with our other ministry work. Perhaps, Cindy will continue to hear the calling for a longer term of service. Please welcome Cindy and pray for God's calling on her life - that she is able to discern her future role.
Jesper Mayiba - Gardner
Jesper serves as a full time gardener. He has worked in this field for 15 years and has proven to be just what we have needed since George has taken on more responsibility. He has also been instrumental in helping Karen with the Good News Club. His gentle demeanor and sensitivity to the children and learning more about the Gospel makes him a valuable asset to our team. Jesper is married and his wife has also worked part time when we have been busy with teams. It is a pleasure to have this couple with us and we look forward to how God will use them as we move forward.
With a never ending smile, Given continues to make our day. He came to us in July as a yard worker where he has proven to be a "hard" worker. But, what we never expected was his love for and desire to help us in our ministry efforts. Given plays a major role with the Good News Club as Worship Leader and interpreter. He works great with children and loves to minister to them. He also goes out with us in the bush when needed.
In 2014 we took over a work that had begun in the Simwatechele chiefdom. Decision immediately embraced the effort and had been instrumental in helping us continue that work and experience it's growth. He travels with us to almost every venue in an area we call ZIMKO. We would not be very effective without Decision's willingness to serve along side of us as interpreter and advisor of the local language and culture. His determination to play a vital role and exhausting support for our efforts is greatly appreciated.
Bible Training Team
We began our Bible Training program in 2013 with about 50 students. Since then, it has grown to over 600...and much larger than one person can handle. Pastors and Lay-leaders from within our various ministry areas have volunteered to play a vital role in helping to administer this program. We meet monthly where they bring in the lessons from their local students where we grade them and print new lessons to be taken back into the bush and distributed. These leaders are vital to this ministry and greatly appreciated.
Jesus Film Outreach
In early 2017, we were gifted (4) special back-packs that contain all the necessary equipment to take the Jesus Film into the deep bush by foot. There is a solar panel with battery pack, projector and loud speakers that allow them to show this very effective ministry tool to over 300 at one time. This will multiply our efforts by a factor of 5.
The Good News Club
The Good News Club began in April, 2017 with 13 volunteers helping to pull off the first program. It required all of their efforts and began a very successful children's program in our front yard. They continue to play a vital role in the ministry of these children and do so completely as volunteers.
Maxwell Smart; a.k.a. Agent 86 & Aggie; Agent 99
Max and Aggie are the newest members of our team. He is a Jack Russell Terrier. She is an unknown breed that looked like Max in the beginning, but grew much taller. They are instrumental in keeping Baboons at bay each morning and alerts us to visiting Elephants, Buffaloes, Hippos, Cats, Snakes, thieves, and other critters who sometimes wander near our house. We are very thankful for them.
